The Project Pipeline
For me there sometimes comes a time when I get caught up on projects that I'm working on and forget about getting new projects. The pipeline is going smoothly when all of the sudden, there is a dry spell.
That is suddenly occuring again. I've had to turn down a few things recently due to time constraints or budget and now I'm looking around for some new work. I've got to pull out the strategies to get the pipeline flowing again.
I work as an outsourced freelancer these days - meaning that I get called on or contracted for design projects that are needed by a third party. I don't have the time or energy required to develop new clients these days, so I go after firms or organizations that have their own clients and need help getting projects out in time. It works out quite well, I just have to keep my name and availablility out there.
So, what's a guy to do? Keep on doing what I'm doing, contact some of my contacts out there, touch base with good clients I have now, and realize that things will come in my HP's time, not my time.
What do you think? How do you keep the business rolling in? Do you have dry spells? Please post your thoughts and feelings here as we'd love to hear from you. Mike
